REM State offers a range of training options that can be developed, adapted and/or extended according to individual need. Training workshops and seminars are designed to be both ‘stand alone’, as well as reinforce and support one another. Principles of Hebbian* learning are employed, ensuring that (where necessary) material is revised and re-visited in a variety of different ways to best facilitate learning – and maximise the ability to use and develop this learning in ways which are practical and effective.
(*Donald Olding Hebb [July 22, 1904 – August 20, 1985] was a psychologist who was influential in the world of neuropsychology, where he sought to understand how the function of neurons contributed to psychological processes such as learning. He has been described as the father of neuropsychology and neural networks. In 1949, Hebb published ‘The Organization of Behavior’, in which he described the process that became known as Hebbian theory; this theory is often paraphrased as ‘Neurons that fire together, wire together’)
One of the unique elements of REM State’s training delivery is the use of visual and movement-based metaphor to further explain the ‘academic’ content of training, and as such better enable learning through maximising the very neurobiological processes on which the therapeutic approach is based! All such connections are fully explained in the context of both the training method and subject matter, adding to the value and ‘practically translatable’ understanding gained from the experience. Feedback from those who participate in our events constantly underlines and emphasises the importance of this approach.
