The ‘Laboratory of Imagination’ is intended as a vehicle to enable the development of learning skills. Through a broad range of visual, aural and kinaesthetic opportunities, the experience is designed to ensure that children across a wide range of ages and abilities can work together to explore their own learning styles within the context of emotional health and well-being.
The programme is entirely consistent with (and supports) the aims and content of Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) and the Social & Emotional Aspects of Learning (SEAL) initiative. It is based upon understandings gained through contemporary research about ‘brain-based’ learning in relation to gender (including the work of researcher Anne Moir – see www.mindfields.org.uk for further details).
Adults who accompany children on the day are ‘equal learners and participants’, the principal aim of the day being for everyone to have fun while learning!
